TPH Academy Niagara Welcomes Scott Barnes to Team TPH

TPH is thrilled to announce that Niagara region resident and area hockey fixture, Scott Barnes, will be joining its Port Colborne-based Academy as an Operating Partner. Barnes brings 20+ years of hockey playing, coaching, and instructional experience to a role that will involve him in all areas of the Academy operation.

Alan Keeso

“We are ecstatic to have Scott involved in our efforts to develop and advance the next generation of impact players in the Niagara region,” CEO Alan Keeso shared. “Scott is plugged into all things hockey in the region, shares our philosophies when it comes to training hockey players, and has a knack for developing players of all ages and abilities. While Scott will be a tremendous asset for our future Director and Head of Hockey, his hockey knowledge, experience, and passion will be most felt by our student-athletes.”

A native of Dunnville, Scott presently serves as Owner, General Manager, and Head Coach of the GOJHL’s Thorold Blackhawks, who also call the Vale Health and Wellness Centre home. Additionally, Scott operates Barnes Hockey, a training business he started 17 years ago to support hockey players in and around the Niagara region to develop their skills. In his time coaching and running Barnes Hockey, the Pelham resident has been fortunate to play a role in developing over 200 players for the CHL, NCAA, and professional levels. Scott says he is now looking forward to playing that same role for the benefit of TPH Academy student-athletes.

Scott Barnes

“Having a TPH Academy in Port Colborne is a huge win for hockey players in the Niagara region, and I am proud to be a part of it,” Barnes said. “What has impressed me most about TPH Academy is the commitment that is made to not only developing the hockey player, but also the student and the person. All aspects of the Academy experience are built for student-athletes who dream big and aspire to be at their best every day. I look forward to working with TPH, our future Academy Director, and the rest of the on-site team to bring this special opportunity to life in a region my family calls home.”

If you are interested in learning more about TPH Academy, and as Barnes stated, the “commitment” TPH strives to make to its families, we invite you to join us for our first-ever TPH Day, taking place on Monday, February 20 from 3:30-7:30 PM at the Vale Health and Wellness Centre.
