The St. James Performance Academy powered by TPH, located just outside of Washington, DC, will supercharge student-athlete development by providing a holistic and tailored academic experience alongside sport-specific training and world-class instruction.

The Powered by TPH academic model is designed to allow student-athletes the opportunity to pursue an exceptional educational experience without sacrificing athletic aspirations. TPH will bring all the benefits of its unique blended academic learning model to The St. James, combining rigorous, college preparatory offerings with flexibility, customization, and personal discovery, allowing student-athletes to be proactive in their academics while balancing competitive sport.
TPH Academy recently celebrated the remarkable advancement of several student-athletes. Notably, four TPH Academy alumni, Rutger McGroarty, Cutter Gauthier, Gavin Brindley, and Lane Hutson, earned Captainship of the Gold Medal-winning 2024 U.S. National Junior Team in this year’s IIHF World Junior Ice Hockey Championship. TPH’s International Women and Girls in Sports Day Guest Speaker - TPH Academy alumna Kirsten Simms - was not only recently called up to compete against Canada with the USA Senior National Women’s Ice Hockey team in December of 2023, but was also named both WCHA Player of the Year and Forward of the year in addition to being a top three finalist for the Patty Kazmaier Award. TPH has also seen over 40 TPH student-athletes progress from Tier II to Tier I programs in the last year alone and look forward to seeing even greater advancement in the years to come.
While TPH Academy may have gotten its start in ice hockey, the academy has become home for student-athletes of all sports. From Water Polo, Equestrian, Soccer, Figure Skating, Gymnastics, Baseball, Golf, Dance, Swimming, and beyond, development and advancement are featured at many levels. At The St. James Performance Academy powered by TPH, student-athletes will have access to state-of-the-art high-performance training and competition facilities and top-tier coaching and strength and conditioning instruction. The venues at The St. James are unparalleled, boasting a FIFA regulation-sized field house, two NHL-sized ice rinks, an Olympic-sized indoor swimming pool and waterpark, gymnastic and dance studios, four regulation-sized basketball courts that can be transformed into nine volleyball courts, and more. From figure skating to baseball to field hockey and golf, student-athletes of a wide range of sports will receive specialized training and guidance from professionals who are dedicated to their success.
